How To Be a DJ w/ Hollow Earth Radio

Current DJ SHIFTS start in June 2007. Download our very simple application: here, and mail us if you are interested. Our gmail is: hollowearthradio. Inquire about specific times.

DJ Shifts are three hours long. The first hour is for organizing, and the other two hours will be Djing On Air, yo! We support free-form radio where Djs play what they want and say what they want (except, we don't support discrimination of any kind). Remember that we are not a professional radio station, and we don't care to be, so feel free to be yourself. It might also be helpful to read over our mission and vision of Hollow Earth Radio to understand our basis for starting this project.

We are looking for WEEKLY DJs, TWICE A MONTH DJs, and GUEST DJs who come once or every once in awhile. If you are interested in becoming a regular DJ, it would be rad to make a 3-month commitment. We'd of course make exceptions, but we are looking for longer-term volunteer DJs.

Organizing:
The first hour, DJs can organize a two-hour playlist of music for your shift. We encourage you to bring your own music to upload onto our database. It would be best to burn a c.d. (if possible) of specific songs from your collection before coming to your shift so the uploading process takes up less time. DJs may also choose from our database of music and from our albums not yet uploaded.
You are welcome to create your own THEME to your DJ shift like D.C. Punk Hour, Freak Folk, Krautrock Rules, What I heard On Myspace this Week, etc. Just talk to us about what you are thinking, and we'll support what you are putting together.

Album Reviewing
Also, during your shift, we'd love to have albums reviewed. We always have a stack of 'em ready to be reviewed and uploaded to our database.
